Apollo is a drinking song written by Daan Janssens and Kevin Verlaeckt for the Apollo Music Fraternity, a co-ed Greek organization founded at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent on Thursday May 12th, 2005. As one of its founding members and its first PR Director, I orchestrated this melody and transcreated the lyrics to commemorate the organization's 15 year anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2020.
lyrics
Leute maken doen we hier
GENEN DRANK, GENEN KLANK!
TRANSCREATION:
We're a student music guild
That likes to drink
You'll hear our song
Echoing in every street
It haunts the air
In Ghent, everywhere
What keeps us fueled
Is a fresh, cold beer
Because having fun
Is what we do here
Apollo, Apollo,
I raise this glass for you
You're the God of inspiration
To you we must be true
Although making music
Is something we love
One saying we'll never cease
To remind you of:
NOT A PEEP, IF NO DRINK!
Never does a concert reach its end
Before thoughts of beer begin to seep in
Amused we become, with smiles on our faces
Then we celebrate til dawn in many places
As long as music exists in Ghent
They'll never defeat us in the end!
