about

"Adriatic Magic" briefly sets the stage for "Adoration of the Muses" with its hauntingly delicate motifs and celestial chimes. In this mini-overture, an Adriatic King bellows out into the mist, calling upon the Muses to descend from the heavens and infuse the music with their essence. The work is dedicated to Raj Horevoorts ("King Ruudolf") reflecting on his concept of achieving Moksha, i.e., "escape velocity" in the Nonology of the Composer Lifecycle. "Horevoorts" (literally "Hear in Advance," as if a Winged Messenger) is a Dutch surname meaning Reluctance, Travel Lover, and Good Understanding, whereas The Nonology (a nine-phase cycle) is a memetic illustration of the trap that many composers have found themselves in while pursuing their art. The cycle is sonified in "Nine Passions of Virgo," released in July 2022, and aims to help composers pinpoint where they may be stalled in their creative processes. For example, when Raj's dreams to become a dinosaur whisperer are woefully jettisoned, he instead takes up jet-setting as a royal airline steward, traversing the planet with his trusty travel companion "Adrianna Bluebird." The adventures of "Adrianna," embodied in a uniformed KLM Barbie doll, are chronicled in breathtaking photos of all the world's great natural and architectural wonders. Her superpowers are Supersonic Flight and Communicating With Animals.
